6 Tips for Maximum Winter Warmth with Minimum Costs

1. Sunny Side Open – Use the sun for free heat. Open
curtains and blinds with sunny exposure to let in light and heat during
the day, then close them at night to retain heat.

2. Bundle Up – Instead of turning up the thermostat, put on a sweater. Keep blankets on your couch, and use rugs to insulate floors.

3.  Go in Reverse – If you have reversible ceiling fans, use the clockwise setting to keep warm air circulating instead of rising to the ceiling.

4. Clean Your Furnace – Make sure your filters are replaced regularly, and make sure all air intakes and vents are unblocked.

5. Keep it Humid – Use a humidifier to add moisture to the air. Moist air retains heat better than dry air.

6. Add Insulation – Adding weather stripping and thermal curtains are quick, easy ways to reduce heat loss.

Something Sweet and Sugary...YUM

Here is a recipe that is sure to please this Valentines Day.

I had company in from out of town this past weekend and this was such a hit with the kids and the adults. Be sure to follow the recipe and don't take shortcuts and it will be so worth it. You can fix it for a few or a lot of people. Personally this past weekend I had the pleasure of doubling the recipe to fit my large amount of family members that came to tow. I served these sweet delectable's with sausages, shrimp and cheese omelet's orange juice and milk and coffee.

You can put your own twist on it though but thought I'd share our brunch line up with you all.



FRENCH TOAST BAKE

1/2 cup melted butter (1 stick)
1 cup brown sugar
1 loaf of thickly sliced bread
4 eggs
1 1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Powdered sugar for sprinkling
Cinnamon for sprinkling

1. Melt butter in microwave & add brown sugar....stir till mixed.
2. Pour butter/sugar mix into bottom of 9 x 13 pan....spread around.
3. Beat eggs, milk, & vanilla
4. Lay single slices of bread in pan
5. Spoon 1/2 of egg mixture on bread layer
6. Sprinkle some cinnamon over bread/eggs
7. Add 2nd layer of sliced bread
8. Spoon on remaining egg mixture
9. Cover & chill in fridge overnight
10. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes (covered for the first 30 minutes)
11. Sprinkle with powdered sugar & cinnamon
12. Serve with warm maple syrup

Sweet Hearts Day.....Is it bitter sweet?

 V A L EN T I N E S D A Y............... February 14

 How many of us will rush out soon to purchase that special gift for either our selves or someone else.  It's that special day on top of all the other days throughout the year that we get to express our love for that special person in our life.

Many of us including myself  believe that we should express our love everyday of the year. I also think that Valentines Day's gives us and extra special day to really pour it on. To let that extra special person know that we Love them. So whether we shower them with flowers candy and or gifts our loved one knows that they are loved by you.

I have written a piece recently called 

 Valentine’s Day What does it really mean and how did it get started?
